Britney Spears finds her voice

 Britney un-chained - the singer is almost out of her conservatorship nightmare 

 

Britney has been in the press A LOT in the last few months. Before the documentary Framing Britney Spears dropped, the world had almost forgotten that she was living in some sort of purgatory. The conservatorship has/had been in place for 13 years and having never really spoken about it but having still been working throughout, people didn’t really think about it.

 

 

Her fans did though, and the #freebritney movement has been quietly working away to raise awareness about her situation. What seemed to some as a bit of a joke, die-hard fans had been gathering regularly to protest the conservatorship.

 

Spear-heading a new era

 

Britney Spears has come out fighting now though. With her father now not in charge she has spoken about how it ruined her life and her dreams. She’s called out her dad, her mum and even her sister. This week her own mother even demanded $600k from Britney’s coffers in a move that shocked many who though that she was a supporter. It turned out Britney accused her mother (in a now deleted post) of coming up with the idea of the conservatorship as he dad wasn’t ‘intelligent enough’ to come up with it on his own. That’s a burn if ever you heard one!

 After being criticised for her lounge room dancing videos and appearing naked,  she’s stated that it was the best we are going to get right now, saying:‘I’m not gonna be performing on any stages anytime soon with my dad handling what I wear, say, do, or think.’

 

Britney goes on to say: ‘I’d much rather share videos YES from my living room instead of onstage in Vegas… I’m not gonna put on heavy makeup and try try try on stage again and not be able to do the real deal with remixes of my songs for years’

 

Sibling rivalry

 

She says that amongst other things: ‘I don’t like that my sister showed up at an awards show and performed MY SONGS to remixes’ which is a definite burn for Jamie Lynn but more tragically say that ‘This conservatorship killed my dreams’ and that all she had left was hope.

Earlier in the year we FINALLY got to hear her thoughts on the whole conservator ship and the true horror of Britney Spears’ plight was laid bare. Not only was it clearly some sort of nightmare scenario, but if we were to take her at her word, those around her are not just manipulators but criminals that need to be prosecuted!

 

 

Following the Framing Britney Spears documentary, the #freebritney ‘movement’ was suddenly given credence and with Britney’s statement a few months ago however, their movement wasn’t just validated, it was vindicated. 

 

 

In her statement to Judge Brenda Penny, she revealed the extent of the abuse levelled at her apologised to her fans for keeping the truth from them. ‘I’ve lied and told the whole world I’m OK and I’m happy. It’s a lie’ she said. Britney didn’t hold back either, saying that she ultimately wanted to sue the perpetrators of her abuse, her father and family included.

 

 

Spears is not taking any shit anymore 

 

She spoke of years of trauma, carried out in plain sight. As we could see, she recorded albums, performed in lucrative worldwide tours, judged on American Idol and chatted on talk shows. All the she while she was secretly enslaved and unable to express what she was really going through. She likens her experience to 'being sex trafficked', and she isn’t wrong. 

  

Shocking details emerged

 

Britney has found her voice at last. When she spoke, she spoke nervously, fumbling her sentences and rushing through her prepared statement like a prisoner given only a small window of opportunity to explain what was happening to them.

 

 

Britney talked of being forced to work, to take powerful drugs like lithium that left her debilitated and unable to focus. She had to live with zero privacy amid threats that if she didn’t comply she wouldn’t be able to see her children or her boyfriend.

Her father has now washed her hands of it and ultimately it is in the hands of the courts but it’s difficult to see how she can remain in this controversial conservatorship having now spoken her shocking truth.

 

 

She depicts her father as the malicious masochistic jailer and her nurses as his cohorts, all the while expunging her money that they in turn had forced her to make. It’s really quite sickening to hear her hurriedly tell us that she is the one funding and paying her captors to continue what they are doing to her – all the while never being advised that there was any way out of her hideous labyrinth of personal hell. 

 

 

As Britney’s tale unravels and she now enjoys her freedom and her engagement to her hunky Sam Asghari, it’s clear that she is in a wonderful place. How this reflects on her personal work we will have to see but expect a new for more real Britney to come.
