What’s meme? First of all you pronounce it ‘meem’, not ‘me-me’ which you’ll often hear people say, getting it wrong in the process with humourous effect. Wikipedia says the following:

‘A meme is an idea, behaviour, or style that becomes a fad and spreads by means of imitation from person to person within a culture and often carries symbolic meaning representing a particular phenomenon or theme. A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols, or practices, that can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena with a mimicked theme.’

That all sounds well and good but when it comes to gay memes, they’ve got to be funny. @Fakeversbottom – this is a Canada based meme site and really funny. Lots of good sassy attitude to his memes.

@itsbritneymeme – as you can imagine this is heavy on the Britney meme but you don’t have to be a fan to find it funny. Expect lots of 90s early 00’s nostalgia.

@Drinksgforgays – probably doesn’t need introducing due to its immense popularity already (about 1.6 million followers and counting). It’s mostly reposts but certainly gets the job done when you need a chuckle in these dark times.
